SALCHETO WINEHOUSE
Another way to explore UNESCO-listed Val d’Orcia Natural Park, is Il Salcheto Winehouse!
Salcheto Winehouse is a Boutique Country Hotel, housed within a 13th century farmhouse, situated at the heart of the Salcheto Winery of Montepulciano. Salco means Willow Tree in the ancient Tuscan language, an important plant for wine growing throughout history. Salcheto is the stream that springs at the foot of Montepulciano, winds through the valley and marks the boundary of this organic and biodynamic, unique estate. The picturesque views over the ancient town of Montepulciano and the Valdichiana “Chiari” drawn by Leonardo Da Vinci make this a truly special place to stay!
Salcheto features nine well-appointed suites, a comfortable lounge and a large kitchen, tastefully furnished with one-of-a-kind pieces created by Artist Elisa Cavani! The air-conditioned suites enjoy up-to-date facilities and wonderful views of the fabulous surrounding nature. A secluded furnished garden is equipped with wood powered hot tubs, where guests can relax, while sipping a glass of wine. The nearby Enoteca serves a delicious Tuscan menu, paired with excellent wines. On request, guests can have a private chef for dinner, which can be served in the garden, or enjoy a cooking lesson hands-on! The backdrop is magnificent, both from the dining room or the terrace overlooking Montepulciano. The peculiarity of Salcheto Winery is their organically grown and bio-dynamic vineyard. Grapes are harvested manually and vinification is sulfite-free. Combining tradition and modernity, the wines are aged in large oak casks, made from Slovenian oak and small oak barrels.
